Jackie is one of the final spirits you will meet as the Spiritfarer. His quest line is intertwined with Daria’s, so you’ll end up following both simultaneously.
Since you don’t encounter him until much later in the game, you are expected to already have a number of boat improvements and abilities unlocked beforehand.

If not, then this guide should provide you with a step-by-step walkthrough of his complete quest line. We also added his mood factors, perks, and other characteristics.
How To Get Jackie
Before anything, let’s start with the boat upgrades and abilities you need to get Jackie on board. These are:
- Mist Cleaner 1000 (Boat Improvement)
- Rock Destroyer (Boat Improvement)
- Double Jump (Ability)
- Zip Line (Ability)
- Glide (Optional Ability but Recommended)
Once all these requirements are in place, follow these steps to find Jackie:
Step 1: After all the prerequisites are met you should receive a letter in the mailbox. Open it to find a brochure inviting you to Overbrook (X: 213, Y: 57), a new island.
Step 2: Upon arriving on the island, you should see a brown spirit to the left standing beside a vending machine.
This is Jackie, and he will ask you for a Chocoblasterz from the machine.
Step 3: Interact with the machine to get one for him (it will cost 1 obol), which will then undo the fog and reveal Jackie’s true form as a Hyena. This unlocks his full quest line.
Jackie’s Complete Quest Line
Onboarding
Once he reveals his true form, Jackie will provide you with an Overbrook tour.
Just follow him, and talk to him whenever an exclamation mark appears at the top of his head.
Talk to him one last time once you arrive at the top of the building and the request will end.
The Slop Shop
Immediately after the last request, Jackie will ask you for 5 bags of rice.
You should already have some in your inventory, but if not then you can buy rice seeds from the Raccoon Shop in Furogawa and grow them in your field.
Once you have them, simply give these to Jackie to end the request.
Wells Fartgo & Co.
Go back to your ship and do other tasks and requests to let time pass after “The Slop Shop”.
Eventually Jackie will send you a crass letter, saying that the vending machine in Overbrook has been restored.
Nevertheless, reading this letter automatically ends the request.
Advanced Snackology
Do as Jackie says in the previous letter and head back to the island of Overbrook.
Then buy a Crispy Burlap Men from the Vending Machine for 1 obol, which will make it glow again.
After that, head towards Jackie, who you’ll find at the Tower. Climb the ladder beside it and talk to Jackie.
He’ll tell you about a patient living in the tower, as well as give you a Pager for future contact. The quest will then be completed.
Slop N’ Slide
Head back to the ship and wait until Jackie pages you to ask for help with a kitchen emergency.
This is indicated by your controller vibrating and Stella getting a message.
After going back to Overbrook, you’ll find him outside the Tower, and he’ll ask for help with food distribution.
So head to the cafeteria on the top floor of the hospital and interact with the shadow in the window. Click on the menu option, and claim the “slop” food.
Now it’s time to look for the patients that need to be fed.
To do this, just talk to three patients that are wearing white and hand them the food. You can find these spirits hanging out near the hospital entrance.
After this, look for three shadows hanging around the building and deliver the food to them. They’re hard to miss.
Once done, report back to Jackie to end the request.
Hide and Seek
Once again, for this request to start you will need to head back to the ship and wait for Jackie.
Once you receive another message on your pager (usually after one in-game day), look for Jackie in the lighthouse. He will ask you to look for some lost patients.
The first of these patients is just standing above you in the lighthouse, convinced the lighthouse is a rocket ship built by reptilians.
Talk to the spirit and he will disappear into his room after.
The next spirit is standing just beside the vending machine near the dock. Talk to this one as well to advance the request.
Finally, the last spirit is standing by the ruins in the far-left of the island, convinced that he’s a doctor.
After you’ve sent all the spirits back, just report to Jackie once more, and he’ll reward you with an Obol.
House Call
Just like last time, go back to your ship and wait for Jackie.
You’ll then get a strange message, which requires you to go back to Overbrook and look for Jackie.
Once back on Overbrook however, head to the spot where Jackie is always standing to give you requests. Here, you’ll find that the door he’s always blocking can now be opened.
So head inside, walk to the right window and climb the ladder all the way to the top.
You’ll see a small room, and inside, you’ll find another spirit: a bat named Daria.
Interact with the table on the left to pick up some music sheets. Then play the guitar to wake up Daria so she can talk to you.
After this, Jackie will immediately appear, upset about what you did.
He will take you downstairs, and the request will end.
Engineering 101
Head back to the ship and wait for your pager to ring.
Once you receive Jackie’s message, go back to Overbrook and you’ll find him blocking the door again. He’ll then ask you to help fix the hospital’s power supply, as well as give you a key.
So head to the right side of the island, past your little rowboat, to find another island with a building.
Next, jump up to the rooftop of the building and interact with the lever to activate the elevator.
Ride this elevator to a higher level, where you’ll find the energy controls you need to interact with to bring power back.
After you’ve interacted with the power unit, use your zipline ability on the cable to return to the lighthouse and gain access to Daria’s room again.
Head inside and talk to her to get the “Hot Still-Scape for Six Colors” request.
Note: While you can decide when you want to start this request of Daria’s, do note that Jackie’s next request won’t begin until you complete this one first.
Finally, head back down to report to Jackie and end his request.
The Incident
This request will only unlock after you have finished Daria’s “Hot Still-Scape for Six Colors” request.
Once that’s complete, Jackie will ring your pager again, and you’ll find him surrounded by patients back on Overbrook.
Losing his temper, Jackie will disappear, ending the request.
Three’s Company
Immediately after the previous request, one of the shadows there will want to take over management.
He’ll ask you for help with looking for staff, and there are three you need to find.
Spirit #1
To find the first spirit, head to Hoseki Quarry (X: -138, Y: 28) in the Furogawa Region.
Once inside, head up two sets of ladders to reach the top.
Next, head left until you come across a fork in the road, one going up and one going down. Take the path going up.
Keep walking left until you find a tall spirit standing beside a ladder.
Talk to the spirit, and he’ll agree to come with you to the Overbrook Hospital. But first, you will need to get these items first:
- 7 Pieces of Wood
- 7 Pieces of Linen
- 7 Carrots
Once you have all these items, talk to the spirit again and he will immediately head to the Overbrook Hospital.
Spirit #2
For the next spirit, head towards Southpoint Docks at X: 157, Y: 22.
Once there, go up the steel beams right on top of you and talk to the short spirit.
He will point you towards a doctor in Old-Central District (X: 185, Y: -8), so head there next.
Once you arrive, here’s what you need to do:
Step 1: From the starting point, head to the far left and bounce on the dumpster to reach the air conditioner on the right.
Step 2: Glide up from the air conditioner, then glide down to the right in order to reach the platform with the white door.
Step 3: Enter the door, go two floors up using the ladder, and then go out the next white door.
Step 4: Then double jump and float towards the left to reach another air conditioner.
Use this air conditioner to glide up and reach the building roof.
Step 5: From there, go right and jump from the roof towards the orange bouncy window roof.
Step 6: Use the bouncy window roof to go up and reach the next window roof on the right.
Once there, bounce again to reach the last window roof on your left, which you can then use to reach the building roof.
Step 7: From the building roof, jump left and glide down to reach one of the window ledges of the building next to it.
Beside this ledge is a window with a spirit inside, who you need to talk to.
Once you talk to the spirit, he will ask you for 10,000 Glims before he comes with you to Overbrook. If you already have the money, then he will immediately leave. Otherwise, you will need to come up with first.
Spirit #3
For the final spirit, head back to Villa Maggiore at (X: -58, Y: 117). Once you arrive, go left until you find the gardener by the cabin.
Start a conversation with the gardener for a total of three times, and he will eventually agree to come with you to Overbrook.
Once these three spirits are recruited, just head back to Overbrook and talk to the new admin to end this request.
Then you’ll get a series of Daria requests before Jackie appears again.
Perimeter Sweep
This quest will only be available once you finish Daria’s questline and after she has already left through the Everdoor.
After some time back on the ship, one of your passengers will mention strange noises at night.
So search the rooms until you find Jackie, who will then move to the Guest House and end the request. Usually, you can find him in Gwen’s lodge.
Feelin’ the Buzz
After some time, Jackie will ask you to follow him to the Field, where he’ll ask for a beehive.
The beehive is found in the ‘improvements’ menu of your blueprint station, and here’s what it requires:
- 7 Pine Planks
- 6 XP Potions
- 4 Gold Ingots
- 4000 Glims
Once built, Jackie will tell you how the beehive works (it only works if there are flowers planted in the field) and the request will end.
Hello, My Name’s Jackie
Immediately after building the beehive, Jackie will want a home of his own.
So head to your blueprint station and build “Jackie’s On-Call Room.”
This requires:
- 10 pine planks
- 6 XP Potions
- 4 Gold ingots
- 4000 Glims
Note: You can also head to our guide to building Jackie’s On-Call Room for more information on getting these required items.
Once built, talk to him again to end the request.
Hang in there, Skeleton!
Not long after Jackie starts tending to the bees, he’ll call for you. He will then go inside his house and ask for motivational posters to help him improve.
So purchase the “Motivational Posters” upgrade for Jackie’s House in your blueprint station for:
- 1 bronze sheet
- 5 iron ingots
- 1 clear glass sheet
Then talk to Jackie to end the request.
A Heart-Sized Desert
Since the motivational posters aren’t enough to help him improve (and just end up making him feel terrible), Jackie will ask for a Zen Garden next.
This requires:
- 12 pine planks
- 1 steel sheet
- 16 silk fabrics
Once again, talk to him after to end the request.
Letting it Go for Dummies
With both the posters and Zen Garden ineffective, Jackie will ask for another thing: self-help books.
These books require:
- 2 crystal glass sheets
- 6 pieces of pulsar ingot
- 2 rose gold sheets
Talk to Jackie after getting the upgrade to end the request. He’ll open up about his mistreatment of his parents.
The Depths of the Pit
Finally, a tired and guilty Jackie will ask to be taken to the Everdoor as his last request.
After saying goodbye, you can collect his spirit flower inside his house. You’ll also find some personal letters written by him.
Characteristics
During his life, Jackie worked with Stella at a hospital during her time as an end-of-life nurse.
Much like Giovanni and Astrid, Jackie’s quest line is also intertwined with the spirit Daria, his main patient.
This means that you will follow their quest lines simultaneously, and you can’t find Daria without finding Jackie first.
While hotheaded, Jackie still likes hugs and getting his favorite food. So make sure you always give him that. When in a good mood, his perks include helping around the boat and harvesting honey for you.
His food preferences are:
- Favorite food: Chilaquiles
- Likes: Meat, Fried Food
- Dislikes: Healthy Food
Since Jackie (alongside Daria) is added to the game via a post-release update, he doesn’t come with any minigames. However, he will teach you how to use the beehive facility.
